Seven Mile Creek

SEVEN MILE CREEK w+m © G Seal Feb 2010

Some bush gothic using a classic ballad format.

D                             G               D
Don’t go out to the seven mile creek
                A                                           G
When the moon is up and the town’s asleep
D                                                           G           D
Where the willows weep and the water is deep
A                               G
Under the bridge on the seven mile creek

Where have you been my dark-eyed son
In the wind and the rain and the winter gray?
I’ve been out on the seven mile creek
That’s where I’ve been today

What did you do, my dark-eyed son
In the wind and the rain and the winter gray?
I met my love at the seven mile creek
That’s what I did today

Where is your love, my dark-eyed son
In the wind and the rain and the winter gray?
Down at the bottom of the seven mile creek
That’s where she has lain all day

What will you do my dark-eyed son?
In the wind and the rain and the winter gray?
I’ll lay down in the water of the seven mile creek
That’s what I must do today

Don’t go out to the seven mile creek
When the moon is up and the town’s asleep
They say you’ll hear some body weep
Under the willows on the seven mile creek.
