Beaut Ute and a Dog

Words and music copyright Graham Seal January 2016

Saw him in a pub in Tasmania, but he's everywhere around the country.

He sits at the bar in an old leather hat
Carrying too much weight and a coupla tatts
He’s drinking too much and swearing to match
But he’s got a beaut ute and a dog
He’s got a beaut ute and his dog

He split with the missus a few years back
But he’s tried real hard to keep on track
He calls her up sometimes but she won’t take him back
But he’s got a beaut ute and a dog
A beaut ute and his dog

He doesn’t see much of the kids any more
And he’s slipped out of touch with his mates from the war
And he’s starting to wonder what all of it’s for
But he’s got a beaut ute and a dog
A beaut ute and his dog

The flat’s a bit rough but it’s a place to stay
And if he drinks enough it all drifts away
And there’s nothing much else at the end of the day
Just a beaut ute and a dog
Just a beaut ute and his dog
Just a beaut ute and his dog.
